Contributing to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were launched by the United Nations in 2015 with ambitious targets to address major global issues – from ending poverty to tackling climate change.
Not every company or organisation can be expected to influence all 17 goals. However, here at kp we have identified the 13 key areas where we believe our people, our expertise and our sustainable portfolio of products can have the greatest impact – by preventing food waste, delivering medication and protecting the integrity of countless products.

SDG 1: No poverty

Improve access to basic goods and services for people living in poverty.

SDG 2: Zero hunger

Fight hunger, improve food security, safety and protection, and reduce food waste with innovative approaches to food packaging design.

SDG 3: Good health and well-being

Support healthy lives and promote well-being through the provisions of pharmaceutical and medical devices.

SDG 4: Quality education

Offer internships and traineeships that give students earlier access to a corporate environment, while also providing existing employees with continuous opportunities to improve their skills and advance their careers.

SDG 5: Gender equality

Support gender equality through equal renumeration and opportunity for women and men.

Zero tolerance of workplace violence and harassment.

Provision of childcare services and benefits.

Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy

Focus on energy efficiency and use of renewable energy.

SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

Offer apprenticeships and foster an entrepreneurial culture.

SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Continue to invest in new, resilient infrastructure in developing countries and/or retrofit existing infrastructure to make it more sustainable.

Promote innovation by giving all our stakeholders the opportunity to develop creative solutions to sustainability challenges.

SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

Use innovation to ensure products and applications address sustainability megatrends. Champion energy efficiency in production.

Reduce manufacturing impacts by substituting virgin materials for recycled, promoting waste reduction and re-using plastic wherever possible.

SDG 13: Climate action

Increase investment in innovation and environmental measures to help improve our manufacturing efficiency and reduce both our own and our customers’ carbon footprint.

SDG 14: Life below water

Improve the design of our products to reduce the amount of waste potentially entering the environment, raising consumer awareness about the effective disposal of waste.

Improve resource efficiency by generating value from waste.

Utilise a value chain approach that creates connections between the design, packaging, marketing and recycling of materials in order to reduce the environmental impact at the end of lifecycle.

SDG 15: Life on land

Implement environmental and social safeguards that ensure responsible sourcing practices exceed basic compliance.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals

Use our global, multi-stakeholder partnerships to mobilise and share the knowledge, expertise, and technological and financial resources needed to achieve sustainable development.
