Mono rigid films

Thermoformable mono rigid films for medical packaging

Pentamed® mono rigid films are medical-grade thermoforming films for trays, clamshells, blisters and other rigid medical device packs. The range includes PETG, APET, PVC, HIPS, PP and TRITAN formulations to meet different clarity, forming, impact, sealing and sterilisation requirements.
Options are available for deep-draw thermoforming, sealing to a wide range of lidding materials and efficient processing on standard form-fill-seal equipment. Softer-cutting grades can also reduce knife wear and support increased line uptime.

Applications:

  • Medical device trays
  • Clamshells
  • Blisters
  • Custom thermoformed packages
  • Face shields
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Benefits:

  • Brilliantly clear
  • Wide range of sterilisation options (EtO, gamma, E-beam and steam)
  • Sealable to a full range of lidding materials
  • Excellent deep-draw thermoforming characteristics
  • No silicone branching
  • Higher yields, more good parts per pound/kilogram, reduced costs
  • Softer cutting formulations cause less knife wear and increased up-time
  • High efficiency on standard form/fill/seal machinery
  • FDA compliant for direct food contact with registered Medical Device Master File (MAF #240)

Polymers:

  • PETG
  • APET
  • PVC
  • HIPS
  • PP
  • TRITAN™

TRITAN™ is a registered trademark of Eastman Chemical Company

PETG and APET

PETG offers excellent clarity and thermoformability for demanding medical packs. APET provides good clarity and is available with an internal de-nest coating for efficient tray handling.

HIPS, PP and PVC

HIPS is available with or without impact modifier; PP is available in homopolymer or copolymer structures; PVC offers clarity, dimensional stability and options with moderate impact and UV inhibitor.
They are single-polymer or single-material-family rigid films used to thermoform trays, blisters, clamshells and other medical device packs.
The range includes PETG, APET, PVC, HIPS, PP and TRITAN formulations, with grade availability depending on the required pack performance and manufacturing location.
Applications include medical device trays, clamshells, blisters, face shields and other thermoformed packages for a range of healthcare products.
Selected grades are compatible with EtO, gamma, E-beam and steam sterilisation. The correct film should be selected and validated for the intended method.
kp offers grades designed to seal to a range of lidding materials. Compatibility, seal strength and processing windows should be confirmed for the chosen film and lid combination.
Selected grades comply with ISO 11607-1, ISO 10993-5 and applicable FDA and EU direct food-contact regulations. Product-specific documentation should be requested.
