The amount of plastic litter that ends up in our oceans is of great concern to everyone. It endangers animal life and puts undue pressure on the oceans’ delicate ecosystem. More than 8 million tons of it ends up in our oceans every year. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is now more than 600,000 square miles in size. To put that into perspective, it is twice the size of Texas. Most of this material comes from under-developed nations without modern waste collection and recycling infrastructures in place. To help turn the tide toward more recycling of plastics, there needs to be a useful aftermarket for those recycled materials. This is where ShoreCycle® enters the mix!
